Writtle Hospital Cup
The Writtle Hospital Cup is organised by the Writtle Bowling Club and is a knock-out competition open to Chelmsford & District bowling clubs.
Format

Teams consist of 12 bowlers with at least 4 ladies.

Each team having 3 rinks of 4 players.

RHP Bowls Club win the Writtle Hospital Cup 2004
The Writtle Hospital Cup final was played on Saturday 11 September 2004 at Writtle Bowls Club where RHP's opponents were the holders, Southminster Bowling Club.
RHP got off to a good start, especially the rink skippered by Pam Wager. Southminster came fighting back in the last third of the game and the match came down to an exciting climax.
Alex Wager's (RHP) rink had completed their 21 ends, Pam Wager (RHP) was holding 1 shot with one Southminster bowl to come. Eddie Barker (Southminster), was holding 2 shots, bowled his last wood knowing he was looking for shots to win the game. Unfortunately, rather that resting out RHP's third bowl, Eddie knocked the jack amongst three RHP woods.
This meant that Southminster required 5 shots from the remaining rink, however they dropped 1 shot and RHP Bowls Club won the match by 6 shots.
Congratulations go to both sides for making this a most enjoyable, if nerve racking final to watch.
Writtle Bowls Club announced that this year's competition raised around £1100 for the Little Havens Children's Hospice.
RHP Bowls Club beat Tillingham, Burnham and Falcon bowls clubs to reach the final of the Writtle Hospital Cup.
